Responsibility at Hotel Faaborg Fjord

We take responsibility for people, the environment and the future. At Hotel Faaborg Fjord, responsibility means making conscious choices in everything we do. We have already taken many steps in a more responsible direction, and we are constantly working to become even better.

Our environmental certification

We are proud to be environmentally certified with Green Key, which is the tourism industry's specific eco-label. This commits us to thinking responsibly in terms of resources, consumption and production.

On the roof

In 2025, we will have installed a green sedum roof covering 900 square metres of the building. This will improve biodiversity and create habitats for insects. It will also extend the life of the roof and contribute to a better indoor climate. The sedum roof provides insulation against both cold and heat, purifies the air and retains rainwater.

In the kitchen

In the kitchen, we have been awarded the Organic Food Label in bronze, which guarantees that between 30 and 60 per cent of our ingredients are organic. We use local ingredients whenever possible and always the best seasonal ingredients.

In the car park

We have 12 charging stations for electric cars in the car park.

Upcoming projects

Our next major environmental initiative will be solar panels, which will cover around 40 per cent of the hotel's total energy consumption. This is an investment in the future and in the beautiful Funen countryside that surrounds us.

Social responsibility and community

A responsible hotel is also about the people who make everyday life work. We have a collective agreement and continuously measure employee well-being to ensure a healthy and safe working environment. 

We collaborate with Jobcenter Faaborg-Midtfyn to create job opportunities for both citizens and flex workers. In addition, we pass on furniture to vulnerable people, including Ukrainian refugees and homeless people who have been given new housing.

We believe that employees thrive best when there is a balance between work and well-being. That is why we offer free access to both fitness and spa facilities, healthy meals every day and health insurance through the pension scheme, which ensures quick access to treatment.
